FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Satoeday, 2nd Noyembeb. The Council met at 11 a.m. The Factories Bill was further considered in committee. The minimum annual increase in the weekly wnges of boy and girl apprentices was raised from two to three shillings, and the clause was carried by 18 to 4, At clause 31 a proviso was added on Hon. W, T. Jennings' motion to the effect that nothing in the Act shall prevent persons being employed on one evening a week (excluding Saturday) for the purpose of printing and publishing a weekly newspaper. The Council rose till 7.30 p.m. Evening Sitting. The Council resumed at 7.30. p.m. Tbe Factories Bill was further considered in oommittee. The recommendation of the Labour Bills Committee that clause 36(paiialty for dtath or injury of employee) be struck out was not agreed to. In clause 18 the Lah'iur Bills Oommittee recommended that the coemption of certain industries, such as freezing works, dairy faotories, eto., be struck oat, but the Council deolined to agree to this, The Bill was reported and put through its final stages. At 11.25 the Council adjourned till 2.30 on Monday.
