DEPARTURE OF DR. HUTCHISON.

Dr. HuTeHiNSos, accompanied by Mrs Hutehin on, left New Plymouth by the 4 p.m. train yesterday, a number of friends assembling at the statioa to wish them God speed. On Sunday, Dr. Hutchison conducted services at the Biptist Church in the morning, and at Sit. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in the evening. At the conclusion of the latter service the Rev, S. S. Osborne to >k occasion to farewell Dr. Hutchinson, and express the regret f > lb by the Christian people of New Plymouth at his departure. The sentiments expressed by the Rev. S. S. Osborne will be cordially endorsed by many outside the citcla of the churches, and wo 'ako this opportunity of voicing the loss the district is [sustaining by the departure of one who | endeared himself to many in Taranaki, and who was known and reapected throughout the province. Dr. Hutchinson, besides being a skilful medical miu (though 1.0 has not actively practised r.is profession here) was « splendid type of a thoroughly robust Christian. A man of splendid physical proportions, his hobby may be said to have been the physical training of the young, and he wfts an i arnest advocate of a robust, dean, heilthy minhood of both ptecept and example. Ko was also a devout Christian, but so broad ia his views that though a morober of the Anglican Church he was as often found on the platform or in ths pulpit of th) ais'er churches as in hLs own. Although one of tho kindest of men and most liber.il in his views, 100 much so for many people, he was very severe in his denunciation of wrong doing. A i a loader of thought, a striking personality, an influence for gcjd, a grand good all-round general man, he will be a great 10-s to tha community. Dr. and Mrs Hutchinson go first to Wellington, and after a short rest there proceed Home to Eoglaed.
