The Mokoia was making gooi >7 progress with her tow, and should read port early to-morrow forenoon. The cause of the breakdown is no knowD, but the Monowai signallei " All Well." It is surmised that tb '3 tail shaft is broken or the propelle | gone, necessitating docking. As the Mokoia left here on Tuesday night she probably fell in with the Monowai about 100 miles clear of land. Dusedin, October 24. Nothing has been learned as to the nature of the accident tb the Monowai. After the two steamers arrive at Port I Chalmers to-morrow, the Monowai's passengers will ba transferred to the iMokoin, and tho latter will leave for Melbourne in thu afternoon. I Received 24,10.20 p.m. ! Sydney, October 24. The news of the safety of the Monowai was hailed with s itfsfaetion throughout the States. j Received 25, 0.40 a.m. Sydney, Octobsr 24. The Admiral hud ordered the Phcebs to go in search of the Monowai, but these instructions are now cancelled. '' ' We are informed by Mr. Walker, manager of the local office of the Union S.S. Company, that the Mokoia will l"ave for Hobart to-day with the Monowai's ptssengers and cargo.
