THE RAILWAY TIMETABLE.

It is extremely gratifying to us to be able to inform our readers that His Worship the Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr E. Dockrill, has received a tele gram regarding the railway timetable, of which the following is the ful) text: — To the Mayor, New Plymouth. Arrangements are being made to time the arrival ot the morning train at New Plymonth at 11.5 instead of 11.15 a.m. Kindly advise the other gentlemen interested. 0. A. Piper, Traffic Manager. Although this is somewhat short of the minimum asked for by the people at this end of the district, it is extremely pleasing, in the face of the efforts made in opposition to our reasonable* demands, to be met in this way by the department, and wo have no doubt the people here will accept the concession made as an earnest of thrintention of the Railway Department to grant the whole of what was asked for, viz., the train timed to arrive at New Plymouth at 10.45 a.m. Mr Piper is to be congratulated on his evident desire to meet the convenience of the people whose business brings them into New Plymouth, and on behalf of every one interested we take this early opportunity of expressing the appreciation that is felt here of the consideration be has shown. It i.° evident that Mr Piper is determined so far as lies in his power to run his section in the interest of the people who use the trains.
