THE FEDERAL TARIFF.
DETERMINED OPPOSITION. PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received 10,10.10 p.m. Sydney, October 10. The leader of the Opposition has given notice of motion that in view of tbe tariff proposals of the Commonwealth Government, the financial proposals of the State Government are unsatisfactory. Tbe Premier dfclincd to delay business by adjourning, and challenged Mr See to proceed with the motion. The debate is now going on. Melboubne, October 10. Hon. G. H. Reid presided at a large meeting of the revenue tariff party, when it was decided to move a vote of want of confidence in the Federal Government. If the motion is unsuccessful, the party will fight every item to the death. - Tbe censure motion will probably be moved on Tuesday. Received 11, 1.44 p.m. | . Sydney, October 11. The duty, t qual tp a shilling a bunch placed on bananas presents a serious outlook for Fiji planters, who ooly have New Zealand to look to for a market. The Assembly is stil sitting discussing the censure motion. Hobabt, October 11. There is much resentment over the 'ariff in the Leaishtive Council. Mr Henry, formerly treasurer, denounced Sir G. Turner's mgges'ion of granting a loan as an insult to the S ate. If that was all the a'sistmce the Federal Government could give, the State could have done without it.
