BOWLING
The i-opnti.f the Northern Bowling Aesociiiti' u has tho following :—" As is we'l known, several of our players journeyed to tho Old Country this year, where, as two teams, they played matches in England, Scotland, and lie-! land, and htve won great kudos for their play. Mr James Paul, of New) Plymouth, has genoralled the teams, and rs he always is, was the ' right man in thq right place.' He also, with Mr Thcmaq B Hinder, of Wellington, skipped a rink in all the matches. As players the teams have done well, cm- 1 s : deriog they were strangers in a strange land, and had to play, especially in Scotland, against some of the finest bowlers in the world. It is noted that Mr J. N. Dingle, of Auckland, one of the team, carried off the Country Sports Oup at a ' fixed jack' competition, with which the London Oounty Club opened its new green at the Crystal Palace, and at which about 150 competitors took part, and the hope is expressed that this visit of New Zestlanders will be reciprocated."
