THE KUMEROA ESTATE.
PBR PBESS ASSOCIATION. Napier, October 1. la notifying tbe award for the Kumeroa Estate case, Justice Edwards said that under ordinary circumstances the offer of the claimants, to sett at £4 10s an acre would properly be taken as fixiog value, bui it appeared from the evidence, and it was not disputed, that the reason of tbe offer was that they had tbe opportunity of purchasing another property on very advantageous terms. The Government refused purchase at price Darned, and tbe trustee* were thus prevented from dealing with the other property. Costs, totalling £SOO, were awarded. Later. The Compensation Court's award in the Kumeroa rase gives £7 15s pet acre. The Government offered £6 15s.
