THEATRE ROYAL.

j THIS EVENING. I At the Theatre Royal this evening the inimitable Irish qpmeriian, John F. I Sheridan, will make his first appearance here, by presenting George R. ;Sims and Leonard Merricks' musical comedy drama " When the Limps are Lighted," specially written fo- Mr Sheridan. It is a quaint combination of musical comedy and drama, with a touch of tragedy and farce. The piece i is.well written, and Mr. Sims, who has designed it to fascinate the public taste. There is in it sufficient sensation and pathos for soveral melodramas, and 'enough humour for a couple of comedies Throughout the four acts the attention of the audience is held by 4 rapid sue-csi-sion of exciting incidents. The sympathies are roused by strong pathetic scones, while the abimdantaivl irresistible humour of the play provokes uncontrollable laughter. In the elaborate and effective staging of the piece there is much to s'rike the eye of tho°e who appreciate fiae scenic efifeot'. Mr, Sheridan has ample scops for showing his versatility, playing no less thin six distinct characters Incidental to the piece are the following musical items: —"Some Day," "Dmdy Pat," " When the Lamps are Lighted," and " Funicula Funiculi." " When the Lamps are Lighted " will be played to-night and on Monday evening " Fun on the Bristol." The bus for Fitzroy will wait each evening until the conclusion of the p9rformance. Day sales of tickets for ell parts of theatre are obtainable at Mr. McKinnon Bain's touuc warehouse.
