The Herald of Health, a paper opposed to vaccination, says: With regard to those not thoroughly imbued with a superstitious belief in the efficacy of vaccination as a protection against .smallpox, the fact that Glasgow, wheie, , according to the testimony of the | previous medical officer of health, Sir James Russell, vaccination and revaccination were performed to an extent unparalleled in any other locality, , has been attacked with a most virulent epidemic of smallpox, should afford proof of the utter inelessness of the operation. Moreover, it must not be fdrgotten that the outbreak commenced a, year ago with a re-vaccinated sailor,' just as the Gloucester epidemic began with a re-vaccinated school teachei. By the middle of February of this year, 240,000 of the population of Glasgow j had been re-vaccinated, and, up to j March Bth, no less than .£25,000 of tho' public money was speot id re-vaccina-tion, yet up to March 26th no fewer than 1603 persons had been attacked' by smallpox, of whom 198 died.
