ADA DELROY COMPANY.

Thees was a large audience at tbe Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening, when the Ada Delroy Company occupi d the boards for that night only. Owing to indisposition Miss Delroy was unfortunately unable to appear, although it wis'not'until the last moment that all hope of her presence was despaiied of. To their credit be it said, the other membdrs of the company* did their best to make up for the absence of their "star," and though naturally some disappointment w-sfelt, ytt the entertainment went with such a capital swing all through and was overflowing with irresistible humour that the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. The first parti of the programme was mirth-provoking all through, Mr. James Bell's dry drollery and wit convulsing the audience, while Mr. E. Ford's wonderful facial changes were marvellously grotesque, and evoked roars of laughter #nd tremendous applause. The farcial sketch which preceded the interval was thoroughly enjoyable. In the second part some very good animated pictures were shown, and as usual were received with much applause. Although Miss Delroy was unable to exeoute the wonderful skirt dance which has created so great a sensation, a very effective substitute was found, and the marvellous effects produced by the waving draperies and coloured lights was a revelation to many present. Miss Leslie showed great skill in a Xylophone solo, her playing being particularly accurate and artistic. Tbe last item was the "White Mahatmo," who successfully told what several of the audience had written down on paper in the earlier pirt of the entertainment, although each person bad kept possession of his or her writing. Moreover, she accurately guessed a sequence of .figures vvritton down and not disclosed, though in one case the second number was wrongly given by her. Altogether it was a very enjoyable light ente rtainment,
