Meads for permission to sub-let sections 4 and 5, blrck 16, Egmont', to Frank Mischewski for seven years was approved. A similar application from E. McLoughUr, <o euole!; sections 39 and 41, bio k 14, Pouatu, to A. Raid was agreed to, A i.umb.r of applications for permissioi to mortgage were dealt with. H. Sargent applied for permission to acqu're freehold of section 6, block 16, War ra.- danted. The Undar-Sfcretary for OVown Lands wrot" in reference to allowing Mr. A. G Smith to acquire freehold of section 7, block 4, Huiroa, after the expiration of 12 years from commencement of term, and submitted the rule now laid down.—The Commissioner was authorised to accept payment of the capital value and issue the title to Mr. Smith. Jas. Scott's application to capitalise unpaid instalments on section 6, block 10, Ngatimaru, and acquire the freehold was agreed to. A schedule of lands taken for road deviation in small grazing runs 5 and 10, Opaku, was laid on the table and approved. Pursuant to notice given by Mr. HVslop the resolution of 20th May hut, dealing with hnd required by the Patea Borough Council for electric lighting purposes, was rescinded. Mr. Newton King wrote that he had no objection to the sale of part of the Holsworthy-road to the Taranaki Jockey Club.—The land will be offered to the club for sale for cash in terms of the Ranger's report of sth June last and section 117 of the Land Act, 1872. The lease held by D. and T. Green, section 17, block 12, Ngaire, will be declared forfeited through non-com-pliance with residential conditions. A lease in perpetuity will be granted to Michael Rougbnan for sections 80 and 82, block 10, Pouatu. The Ranger's report was read on the applicition of the Taranaki County Council to have the gravel reserves along the So'ith-road vested in the Council.—Application granted, except in respect of section 132, block 8, Cape. The Ranger drew attention to the practice of local bodies holding over large amounts of accrued " thirds" (nntably the Stratford County Council, which proposes to hold over some £304) for expenditure after roads have been opened. —Local bodies' attention will be drawn to the matter, and they will be informed that the Board considers it undesirable that the halfyearly proportion of " thirds " remain unexpended where the amount available is sufficient to justify expenditure while the roads need so much attention. The fo'lowing proposals for expenditure of accrued " thirds " were dealt with:— 2786 Patea West Road Board, £26 14s sd.—Approved. 3007 Moa Road Board, £sl 5? 3d.— 1 Approved, except " thirds " from section 3, block 8, Huiroa. 2807 Wairoa Road Board, £l3O 0s 101; and application for "thirds"from sections 3 and 6, Opiku, to be banded to the Motoroa Road Bowd.—Approved, and the Minister will be asked to agree to the transfer of " thirds." 3005 Stratford Ciun'y Council, £1123 8s 3d.—The portion recommended by the Ranger was approved. The resolution of 7th May, 1900, re section 32, block 8, Waima*e, was rescinded, and the land will be submitted to auction as one section instead of three. Plans and schedules of sections In the Mimi and Waro S.D's. were submitred and approved. Section 3, block 5, Mimi, will be set apart as a reserve for primary education. Tbe following applied to surrender, with a view to a revaluation of their holdings:—l.F.S. 56 Tbos. Herlihy, section 3, block 8, Mimi; 2906 G. E. Bannett, section 29, block 9, Mimi.— Accspted. The application of G. E. Burton to transfer section 6, block 2, Upper Waitara, to G. M. Crawford was der lined. An application from Mr. J. B. Roy, on behalf of Wm. Purdon, to acquire freehold of section 47, block 3, Huiroa, was agreed to. A considerable amount of routine business was also transacted, and the Board adjourned.
