The burghers under Theron's command have secretly surrendered at Biversdale, as a result of Lord Kitchener's proclamation. Colonel Crabbe engaged Commandant Scheepers with 200 men near Lady smith, Cape Colony, on Saturday, wounding 11, Three British were wounded. BENTENOEB COMMUTED. Received. 17,10.46 p.m. Lohdoh, September 17. The death sentences and terms <f imprisonment passed on several Cape rebels have been commuted; in the firs'; instance to penal servitude for life, and in the second to greatly reduced terms of imprisonment. Halpio (South African Light Horse); A. D. Warren (Kitchener's Horse) ; K. J. Richards (Kitchener's Figh'ing Scouts) ; Gilbert Mooland (Mounted Rifles); T, Jone* (Brabant's Howe).
