FOOTBALL.
A Wellington telegram says that His Excellency the Governor has intimated a desire to present a Challenge Cup to the New Zealand Rugby Union with a suggestion that the champion fifteen of the South Island meet a crack fifteen of the North Island at Wellington to' decide its possession. The following is the team chosen to represent Wanganui against Taranaki today :—Takarangi, Wood, Tregear, Robinson, Stedman, C. McLean, Dick, R. McLean, Guscott, Symes, Fraser, Ryan, Malone, Butler and Bell.
