ANGLICAN SYNOD.
THE PORIRUA TRUST. CONTROL OP THE ISLANDS. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, September 12. A special session of the Anglican General Synod was held to-day, the purpose being that the trustees of the Porirua College endowment might re-i caive from the, Synod further directions for utilising and protecting the estate in accordance with the terms of the trust.
The Primate presided, and in h's address stated that lie 1 had received a letter from the Bishop' of London, in which the latter states it to be the opinion of tbe Archbishop of Cantcrlu y and himself that it would be b- st to hand over to the Church in New Zealand the islands in the Pacific now considered to be under the control of theJßishop of London. He would lay tha whole matter, before the ordinary Synod, but in th# meantime would refer it for consideration to a special cominittee, to frame some Scheme. The irrimate also mentioned that the Bishop of Wellington would leave next week on a visit to Fiji. 1
