The Govi rncir presid»d this morning over a conference of the various Veterans' Associations of the colony to conrider the question of forming n New Zealand association of veterans, with Wellington as the centre. Is was resolved that tie' title of the ussociation shou'd be the j New Zeahnd Association of His Majesty'ij Veterans, and that it ba open I to all members of the Imperial Forces j who have received thi< Imperial decora-! tion«, or who have Complete i seven years' service; also I, all members of Colonial Forces who I'pre on active service priir »o 1872.1 Lord Ranfurly was elected President and the following vice-presidents w*e nominated: — Captain McKellnr Wi (Wellington), Commander Eisther Dunedin), Captain Webs'er (New Plymouth), Mr. C. Dixon (Masterton) Mr. T. D. Cummits (Wanganui), M j r Richardson (Napier), Government Secretary, Mr S. Stidolph (Wellingtc i). Regret was exprofg 'J at the non-rlpresentation of the Auckland Aesociatno, which wrote that is was onsidereJ undesirable at present to be dnsolimted with any other body. 1 Tha following were efected a striding committee to carry on businoss daring tbe recess: - Con minder Home, Lieutenant-Colonel Nn rail, and Captain McKellar. The 1 ollowing general committee was ako appointed: Wellington: Commence* Home, Lieu-tenint-Colonol Newal); Hawke's JJ y : Majors Gascoigne and Garter; Dunedin : Colonel Morris and Lieutenant O'Callaehan; New Plymomh: G«p----t >ius A. Standish and Htmmerton; Masterton: Captain Hewitt and P.O. Oullea; Wanganui: Giptain Preece and i. W. Day. At the conclusion of the meeting tin delegates went to Government Ho-ise and laid the rules before the Governor. His Excellency, as president of the association, approved of the rules with a few alterations.
