Jambs Ismay, one of the owners of th« "White Star Line," states that his firm has determined to build no fewer than three large twin-screw steamers for the New Zealand trade. They are to be much after Me styl* of thfGothic, but f-r laig.-r, measuring no less than 12 500 tons each. The fiisfc of the tlnw, tho Atomic, will bo ready r hy the end of the year. She will be followed fcy th» (Jjiintbic, and then by a new Ion : c, all s'ster ships of the A' henic. When it is remembered tha' the Gothic is only 7755 tons, it will be realised what a eize of 12,500 tons means. Even the big naw boats P«rsic, Medic, etc., used in the I/verpoolAustral'an S'rvicr, are under 12,000 tons, and the old lonic was but 4700,
