The football match between Taranaki wd Wairara'pa was played fo-day in jxtremely fine weather, too good, in 'act, for the game. The men were in »ood condition. Taranaki won the boss, and chose the west end of the Be'd, having the sun at their backs. The passing on the Taranaki ' side was excellent, but time after time Rogers made good runs and was not backed up; The second spell showed More hard wo'k, Wairarapa playing ' well. Hard luck followod them, as bbey nearly scored a number of times, Taranaki staving off t'e attacks by good play. O. Rogers, Brunton, Diamond and Jury played well for Wairarapa, and Huater, Smith, and Humphries showed good play for the visitors. McKenzie had noma good kioks at goal, but failed at line kicking.
