COLONEL DA.VIE 3' APPOINTMB ST. Colokbi, Davie f, of I ogle wood, late of tbo First Contingent, has been appointed to the command of the Auckland Volunteer Diatiiot. The examination of officers of the various compinies in Taranaki—mounted and foot—waa conducted at the Courthouse on Wednesday night by L'eutenant-Oolonels Newall and Ellis and Mijir Okay. Th°re weie about 25 candidates.
