INGLEWOOD.
(faom our own cobbespondent). The weather this last fortnight has been exceptionally fine, enabling farmers to get a lot of stumping and ploughing done. The butter factory here ha 3 started receiving milk every day, and altogether the season is starting under very favourable circumstances, i The local division of the Hawera Mounted Eifles spent last week in >-mp at Hawera, and had a vory enjoyable time. The officer commanding was Captain Bartlett, who has seen active service in South Africa, and during the week he instructed the corps in some practical field movements. On Thursday the c«mp-was visited by Colonel Newall, to examine Captains Maxwell and Liardet and Lieutenant Matthews, who all passed; This corps in times pxst was second to none io New Zealand, and under the able control of Captain Bartlett bids fair to maintain its former position.
