THE IDEAL SHEEP.

The article that recently appeared in the New Zealand Times entitl d " The Moll Shepp," by "John in thei Bush," will doubtless have been re*d by numerouH farmers, as the subject of what is the ideal sheep to breed is one that is engaging the attention of s,heep fanners, not only in New Zealand, but throughi ut the Australasian colonies, indeed throughout the world. "John in the Bush " has certainly hit the nail on the head as regards one point, i.e., the foolishness of continuing to send heavy, wasty, tallowy carcases cf muttin Home, as the English buyers will iiot have it; but otherwis?, Ido not think he can claim to have thrown much light on the subject, or thrown ow> any hiuts which cjuld be used to advantage by sheep fanners. A,<i re» gards the suggestion that Mr, Qilruth is the ident'oal man to solve the problem, that gentleman miy or may not have studied the subject, but I fail to see »hy his successful efforts to ke pout the dreaded plague should render him competent to state whit is the ideal sheep to breed, or how to breed it.
