Mr. Field gave notice to atk the Government; whether its attention has been drawn to the formation of an Australian Chamber of Comntraa in [London; whether it is true, as reported, that the Agent-General for colony is holding aloof from the organisation, pending instructions from the Government; and whether it is the intention of the Government to cooperate with the ri m. of Australasia in tuis movement ? Sir Joseph Ward moved the adjournment of the House as a mark of resped to the mrtnor; of the late Hon. James Kerr. He paid % tribute to the character of the d«osased legislator, and said it was owing to his knowledge as a pressman and his experience on publio bodies that he was in 1892 eelected as ooe of twelve new appointees to the Council. It had always been his a : m to do his best for his fellowmen, ai d if. «ould be s ime consolation t j the members of his family to know he left behind him a quiet dignified personality which would be remem* bered by his colleagues. Mr. James Allen seoonded the motion, saying the Council sustained a severe los< by the death of Mr, Kerr.'
Mr. Fisher said Mr. Kerr had always bee a ki.own as an upright, honwft sterling man.
The motion was rariied unanimou ly in sileioi, and the House adjournal till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
