It has become the practice with hundreds on Saturday nights to walk in thn roadway instead of the pavement. McDiarmid and a friend were doing this whan a tramcar was going down the bill past the Octagon. The driver gave a warning whistle and the friend stepped off the rails, but for some unknown reason deceased did not, and was struck by one of tbe horsex, one of the wheels going ov«r his chest and crushing it.
