Mr. Newton Kino reports;— Cattle.—At Waiwakaibo on Tuesday there was a goo l yarding of stock, and good attendance. There was a good demand for all young oattle, and except in a few instanct s where reserves were too high; everything s Id at the hummer after brisk competition. Dairy cattle were slightly eisier, but lines of sp iDgiog heifers were mostly on the small sile. Three very choice well grown halfbred Holstein heifers from Mr William sold remarkably well. Calves to yearlings made LI 14sto L2 10s; IS month mixed, L2 13s; empty heifers, L2 14s to L 3 1 Is; springing heifers, L 4 5s to L 5 ss; half-bred holsteins, L 7 7s 6d to L 7 10s; store cows, L 3 5s to L 3 IPs.
At Stratford on the same day I held a clearing sale on account of Mr T. Cox. The cows were a ver/ nice lot, and sold well, averaging L 7 lis. Dairy cows made L 8 to L 9 1 2s Gd; store cows, L 3; ppringing heifers, Ls7s6d to L 7 7s 6d; heifers in c*lf, L 4 12s fid; half-driugnt horse,"L2s. Sundries made good prices.
VICKERB & SttCVENS' AUCTION BEPORT. Messrs Vickebs & Stevens report a goo 1 muster of »took in the Inglewood yards on Wednss.iay, 2let instant, far in excess of advertised entries. Almost every lot changed bands, competition being brisk. Yearlings, L2 3s to L 3; 2-year-old steers, L 3 88 to L 4 2s 6d; 3-year old stß»rq, L 5 lis 6d to L 6 4s; empty heifers, mCo „o L 3 12s 6d; springers, backward, L 3 10s to Li; forward springers, Lsto L 6 ss; store cows, L2 10s to L 3 10s. On August 13th they held a clearing rale on account of Dr. Valintiae, which was well attended. Cows brought L 4toL 7; wagonette, L 4 5j ; harness sundries at fair prices. On August 14th they held a clearing sale on account of of Messrs Henwood and Sons. There was a good attendance, and cows, early calvers, realised from L 6 to L 9; backward cows, L 4 10s to L 5 10s ; heifer.], 18-months to 2-year-old, L39sto TA 2s 6d; yearling heifers, L 3 ; draught mare, L 36; and sundries at fair rates. On August 20th, at the Kugby Road, they held a clearing a4le for Mr. D. H. McDonald. The cows were in first-class condition, and averaged L 7 5s all round, yearlings L 3.
