VOLUNTEERS.
Captain Taunton, Acting Adjutant of the Taranaki Battalion, inspected the Hawera Rifl?s on Tuesday, and expressed himself as very pleased at the manner in which the men went through their work.
It is understood tha* the new r'flea are ready for issue to those companies not already supplied with them, and instructions have baen issued for the return to the Defence Office of all old arms now on issue.
