Tbo steamer was in such close proximity to the Maungmui bluft that the breaker c iuld be plainly seen, acd the steimer w-m being gradually diifted towar ) < the A horsebox was put overboard to act as a sea anchor, but had little effect; and it seemed as if the vewel would go ashore. After hours of :\nxiety she was brought out of her pariious position by the aid of Bail 9, anl temporary repairs having been effected below the steamer made her way under sail and easy steam to Oaehunga.
