The Board mit on Frid.y. Pr ssnt: Mtssrs R. Oock (chairman), Faull, Strauchon and Wad*. Mr. 8 sock was again absent through « mtinued i'lness, and was granted Kave of absence. In accordance wi ,h notioe of mo'.ion, Mr. Strauchon mivfd, and Mr. Faull seconded, that the resolution of 6th April, 1900, relative to arrears of rent, 1 be rescinded. —Carried. Permission will be granted to Mr. P. Hunter to underlet to Mr. Patrick O'Connor part-sec-ion 109, block 2, Ngaire, for a term to expire at tbe expiry of Mr. Hunter's lease, subject to the Board's solicitor reporting all papers in order. The Board's solieitorpoiuted out that the damage to the res rve At the Waiwakaiho, through the diversion of the current of the river, was a matter! of vit'l interest to the le s s e, Mr Newton King, and suggested that Mr. King should be confern d with up in the subject. I On the motion of Mr. F.tull, seconded by Mr. Wade, it was that the chairman bs requested to confer with Mr. King as to taking action to fix responsibility for damage CBUsed by th • removal of atone from the Waiwakaiho river.
The Publio Trustee wrota with reference to swion 279, New Plymouth, which ha proposed to deal with un'lor the Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894. The secretary had referred the ma ter to the Board' 4 solicitor, who reported o-i it. A copy of this repirt will be forwarded to the Public Trustee,
Letters from the New Plymouth Harbour Boird and Messrs Govett and Quilliam (acting for Mr. Webber) wer>* read, the subject beiug tiie destruction of reserve R through the removal of stone and shingle on its frontage. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Strauohon, secosded by Mr. Clock, to inform Messrs Gevett and Q'lilliam that the Board cannot entertain any claim for compensation, and cannot sell the freehold, but it symptthises with Mr. Webber, and will put no ob&t&cles in the war of any action tint m<y be t*ken against any p.<rs>ns causing damage.
Messrs Faull and Strauohon w*re oppointt-d a committee to consider, the j base method of adjusting questions nr'sing out nf the deviation the Be> trand-road. The ranger's report was read, and * number of applications for transfers, permiieioa to mortgage, etc., dealf with, and the Board adjourned.
