There is no aniumtionin the share market and prices show little alteration. B nk of New Zealand have a eorslderable downward but there are few transactions, as there is too wide a gap between buyers and sellers. Insurance shares do not show any tendency to imp' ove Meat company shires have recovered somewhat from late values. In quartz mininr there is no material 1 alteration. Waihi buyers offer L 5 17s 6d, but sellers ar <lim at _L6 5». An offer has been received for the Waihi Extended property, which will shortly lie submitted to shaohol '■' rs. In dredging the position is much mors hopeful, the returns f r the past week amounting to 23C0ozs, being the'largest ever obtained. On the West Coast, ton, a number of dredges are on pava v, lo Rold, but thn efleoiis of the. over *\iu il i>n of twelve months apo prevent any rise in value, as the pood and saleable stocks have to • <• sacrificed to ray calls on other incomplete ventures. The value of the gold obtained last j week amounts to over £IO,OOO, and ihere is i every reason t» anticipate that this amount will be materially increased, the distribution of so large a mm and the weeding out o f undesirable ventures should place the smnd companies in a strong position. Locally the Sash and V oor Company anticipate an excellent half-year, and the shares are good buying at the p-esent quotations. We have seviral small parcels offering. In another week the Taranki Freeztng Works Company will have been taken over by lh« new Cooperative Company after an exceptionally prosperous career, notwithstanding the prognostications of failure that were made at its birth.
