The Empress'* private chaplain spent an hour in the sick re min the mom- . ing. All her children, except Prince Henry, were present when death, which came peacefully, occurren at a quarter ~ past 6 o'clock. The cause was dropsy, following on cancer, which had reached the heart. The Empress was conscious till the ead, the Rev. Thomas Teignaou'h Shore, Canon of Worcester, who "I lcted as Chaplaio-in-Ordinary to the J ate Queen Victoria, praying. Much sympathy is expressed in Germany for King Edward, owing to the suddenness of the event preventing his attendance. AUSTRALIAN SYMPATHY.
