PBE PRESS ASSOCIATIOK. Ohbistohoboh, July 21. Mr. T. E. Taylor, speaking at a social giv«n last night to the successful candidate at the late bye-election, suggested that Prohibitionists and workers, or wage earners, should combine at the next general election. He looked forward to the ti-ne when two such large forces would join hands and sweep the poll. He claimed that prohibition was a strong working man's movement. If necessary Prohibitionists. should make concessions and work hand-in-hand with tbe Trade Council and return to Parliament men who would s'and firm agiinst the only monopoly in tin colony. Mr. Smith said the proposed amalgamation would have to be very carefully considered, and speaking from a temperance standpoint he siid they would have to exercise v»ry gr»at cau'.ion, a* they had sympathisers in al sections, and should consider whether tbey were going to make the prohibition movement a deliberate political pirty.
