THE INAERGARGILL ACCIDENT.
PER PBES9 ASSOCIATION. July 13. Mr. and Mr. Sneyd are both in a critical condition. Mr. J. N. Morton has several wounds in the arm and back, and Mr. A. McSporran, a number of deep wounds on the legs. Several others were injured by flying fragments. The fatality was cmsed by the bursting of a signal rocket fired by O&pt&in McGillray, of the steamer Invercargill. AN INQUEST OPENED. Invergabolll, July 14. An inquest on the body of Mrs. Sneyd was opened yesterday, when evidence was taken with a view to ascertaining who was responsible for setting up the stand in the busiest part ef the town to discharge fireworks from. It cime out that a ship's dinger signals cocitaiuing high explosive* war-) fired without regard to the precautions printed on the outside of e*bh. After fitting till 10.30 p.m., the inquest was adjourned till Tuesday. i'be sufferer* now in the Hospital are doing fairly well. Several cases of injuries ara reported, but, wi'h the exception of one young man, they are of a minor character.
