The Boird met on Wednesday. Present: Mr. McAllum (Chairman), Miss Heywood, Messrs. Wade, Allsworth, Mackay, Kennedy, Faull, Hignelt and Adlam.

Owing to the position cf the school, ib whs pointed out that but little s'in ciuld get in'o the building. He h»d consulted with the Inspector, and it; vps decided that as the window cm'dj <ofc be altered, an extra window should 'is put in, and he had given instrucions accordingly. The report was idopted. The Warea -Committee repirtrd that t' e fchool roof was in bad order.—The Architect will be instructed to attend to the ma' ter, and alfo to supply paint .8 r. quested for the shelter-shed. The B'rd-road Committea wrote urging the need for a residence at the school. Mr. Kennedy supported the urgency of the cas<\ Mr. Wade moved, and Mr. Higrett, econded, " Tnat the matter be placsd on the list of u gent works." headmaster. wished the Board to know the position, as people were keeping children away through fear of contagion by typhoid feve'.—lt was pointed out that there need be no fear of contigioa if ordinary precautions were taken.—Mr. Hignett raid he would point this out to the Committee.---Mr. Wade thought it was a serious matter for the Board, which would lose money, and the school ought to be closed. The Chairman said the B :ard was not simply a commercial undertaking. It was suggested th*t the mos ; effective (■lire would be t# send the Truant Inspector round to look up absent children.
It was resolved that the matter of recovering overdue rents from school t-ites be referred to the Chairman, with power to act.
