At the Conciliation Board meeting it was announced that a renewal of the agreement, under which employers and operatives in the tanners' and curri- rs' trade had been working for the kv-t two tmts, had been agreed to by bo h parties. The terms are the same as in i the I tit agreement, with the exception of the vla«B9 fixing a uniform minimum wage of £2 10s per week instead of Is an hoar. I Latbr. At a meeting of the company representatives today it was decided to object to the recent award of the Conciliation Board in the mining dispute. An »s»ocia*ion was formed, to be known as the Auckland Mine Owners' Association. Christchttech, July 8. The Conciliation Board sat to-day to hear evidence in regard to the dispute between the wo illen mills workers and the Kaiapoi, Mos.it>, and South Canterbury companies, as well as for a few local hosiers Mr. Backwell, managing director of the K i«poi Factory, maintained on bebaf of the employ* rs, that if the workers' demands were g anted the mills would not be able to carry O". He stid tbey had met vith severe competition from Horn?, where there were shorter hours ard lower rates if wages. The evidence is concluded xnd tbe Board is cocsidering its recommendation.
