Mrs Minns, mot'ier of the witness, w»s present with her daughter, and in answer to questions by the Ooroair, stated that witnesb' refus il to give evi- 1 dence was due to a fear that some person! or persona would do her s.me injury if she disclosed certain facta that had come under her notice. It seemed that her daughter bad s~en a min in the pantry on the n'ght before the fire, and he hid threatened her thit if she opened her lip 3 she would sutler for it. The Coroner said that if Miss Minns wcul i OLly disclose the name of the person or persons who bad threatened hfr B*6; s would be taken that would efiee-U'lly place her beyond any fear of injury.
