(From Our Own Correspoadent.) List week has been about the worst, as regards weather, ever known in Tar.inaki. The rain has been simply phenomenal; roads, of course, are every wh- re in a fi'thy mess. A large number of both the local corps want SJuth tj b i present at tha landing of the Duke in Wellington. The effect of the line is also in evidence in the fact that several large landowners down tha E<sfc Road nre preparing to cut up tbeir places and sell them for small farms. The Government might do worse than acquire some of the largest places for tho same purpose. The line is b~>und to raise , the pr'ce of hnd in that direction. | The Mock Parliament is in full swing. Up to date three good flebites j have been indulged in, The original j government is still in power.
