Baumber (Wesltynn), have telegraphed to the Pr< mier stating that the proposed rehearsil of the review of troops on' Sunday afternoon will ba a great affront to the conscience of many • aolunteers and members of Chris'ian Churches. The decorations completed are four main arches the shipping arch in Manchester street, tke Frozen Meat Company's arch in Bigh-treet, painted to represent re->l the Agricultural and Pastoral arch at the Worcester-street Bridge, containing-live bullocks and sheep in pens, and the Government Arch at Victoria Bridge, made of graceful ftstoons of native foliage. The arrangsments at the ■ohools are Very rough, owing to lack of proper supervision. It is estimated that on Monday, 11.500 troops will parade, of which 1,500 will be mounted troopers, and 3 500 Cadets. This afternoon the mounted troopers-rode over the line of procession, creating a most favourable impression. The Duke, having expressed a wish to see colonial ho.etg jump wire fences*, it is intended to give a private ezhibi tion of jumping a single wire at Te Koraha on Saturday afternoon, The fallowing is the offici-1 programme for Saturday: The Ophir arrives at Lyttelton, acccompanied by the St. George and Juno, and is received by the warships and met • at the heads by,the Lyttelton fleet, which forms the procession. Thrir Royal Highnesses disembark, at 11.30 a.m., the Governor, Premier, and Minister* receive them,-and the Mayor cf Lyttelton aid Chairman of the Harbour Board are presented. They arrive at Christchurch at noan, bemg welcomed by the Mayor, who presen's the citizens address. The precession then proceeds to the Provincial Chambers, where the Mayor and Comcil'ors attend. Other addresses are to be presented to the Duke, who replies apd proreeda to Vic'oria Square, where he ltys the foundation stone of the Canterbury Jubilee Memerial. The Friendly Societies march past, their Koyal HighS=»eses drive to Te Koraha, where tbey dine. /Atß o'clok there is a reception by tbe'Mayor atthe Agricultural Hall, and at .9.45 their Royal Highnesses will be present at the illumination of tbe city. Oa Sunday they attend morning services at the Cathedral. The Cadets attend afternoon service at the Cathedr.l.
