WEDDING BELLS.
i t- ♦ (• A. quiet, but pretty wedding took place at St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, June 12f,h, when Miss M<iud Muriel Clegp, fifth daughter of Mr S. Clegg, of Puketotara, New Ply. moutb, was married by the F. G. Evuiis, to Mr H. T. S. Downs, third son of the late Charles Downs, E6q of '\Scarlette," Twjford, Berkshire, llnglanrl, arid manager of the Crown Dairy Oo.'s Factory, Tawhiti, Hawera. The bride, who wai given away by her fa*her, looked very bec.ming in a biaver cloth co3tume, tuiquoise blue 7elvet hat, with white osprey.*, and ujtried a lovely white shower bouquet, Her sister, Miss Bella Clegg, who attended the bride as bridesmaid, jwoie a pretty crushei strawb?rry cashmere drts-i, creme laca fichu, hat en suite, and carried a charming shower bouquet. Mr J, Qroome, of Ilahotu, acted as bests man. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold pearl and amethyst bangl", and to the bridesmaid a gold ruby and pearl brcocb. After the ceremony the bridal party drove to Puketotarp, where the wedding breakfast was partakeD of. The cake, which was Urge ind handsome, was greatly admired, md was made by Mr George Ogle, of Hawera. The htippy couple left by the four o'clock train for Hawera, their future home, amidst showers of rice and the best wishes of their friends. The presents were both numerous and handsome.
