LICENSING COURT.

An adjourned meeting of the Licensing Court was held by Mr. R. L. Stanford, S.M., ob Thursday morning. On taking his seat His Worship a lid that as there appeared to be some idea that he would give his decision that day on the applications for new licences he might stats that it was not hie intention to give bis decision at present, and that the Court would be adjourned. He had caused it to be thoroughly examined by a competent builde-, and also by the Fie Inspector. Some repairs have baen tfleeted, and the chimney was now consider quite safe. H« called the F>e Inspector. Gap'ain F. BellriDger siid he had been a°ked by the licensee to 1»k at the chimney that morning, but had not mi do a c ireful examination. Mr Govett, in reply to a question from the Bjnch, said the licensee had arrang d with the town nightwatchman to go through the building eveiy half-hour duting the night. His Worship onsideied the arrangement very s itisfactory, Mr. Govett referred to the question of re building, and stat d ha hid conferred with the leading architects in the town, who adv'sed that re-building was not necssary, and, in v : e »of the short lease, not desirable.
