THE FINDING CF MR AQREL' BODY. PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, Jure 6. In connection with the finding of Mr Ayres' body, the surroundings indicated tbat he discovered the fire in time to allow of his putting on a portion of his clothing! It is believed tbat deceased, on discovering the fire, made his nay it) the direction of the childien's and Miss Wallace's quarters, hoping to effect their racuo. Tbe theory is reasonable, as Mr Ayres was thoroughly acquainted with the building, and - must have passed a means of escape hoping to tescue otherp, and bad thu.fallen a victim to the flames and smoke. At the inquest on the late Mr Ayres, Mr Turner, the Manager if the Bank of Aostrahm, identified tbe body. Mr Johnston, licensee cf the Grand Hotel, deposed that Mr Ayres occupied a bedroom facing the s'reet with two wicdows, one facing the bjlcony. Witms* siw him to his beJrcom at 10 o'clcck on tbe Light, of the fird. The inquest was adjourned.
