The local committal of the akcve lastitutioa held its annual mestiag on Monday last, 3rd iost, there being prewnt Yen. Archdeaeou Govatt(ehairin n), and M-ssrs R. L. Stinford, E. Pridbaro, and N. K. McDiarmid (local socretary). It wi*B dtci led that the ratne of Mr A. E. Fletcher be added to the committee. The local secretary reported that twenty-three candidates bid entered for the theory examisation to be beld on the B,h iost., this number being exclusive of twelve pupils of the Convent School, now a separate enrolment. It was'decided that the elimination be held in the High School, Dr. Hutehin-. £Ol being appointed supervisee ' IntimitioQ was revived that as regards the practical examination, the examiner appointed for New Zealand this year is Mr Alfred Mistowski, Mug, 8., Oxon. , The Committee resolved that at this examination a prize of a guinea be awarded to the 1 cal candidate securing the highest number of marks, and a prize of half a guiuea to {the next in oider of merit, the amount required being subscribed by members of the Committee.
