HARBOUR BOARD REPRESENTATION.
(Hiwri Star), A m eting of the Manaiabian h of the Farmers' Union was held on Wednesday afternoon ; Mr. Foreman in the chair. The object of the meeting was io discuss the representation on the Harbour Board.
Mr. McLetn went thoroughly into the matter, and expl»imd the anomaly tint exi-tod, al«e giving an idea of the manner in which the rest of the harbour distr'ct is beiog dominated by the New Plymouth members, which show that we > ave taxation without representation.
After others had spoken oa the subj'ct, i f . was resolved, That the Government be urged to distribute thrir narninee* on the Harbour Board equally ovt r tV e harbour rating district on the basis of rateable valiie. It was further tfisolved that a circular be sent to e.ch branch in the district, asking that their support be giv n to the above, in the shtpa of a similar resolu'ion beit>g pa<-8"d and forwarded a« soon as po-sille to the MinVer for Marine. There is no doubt but that the Union intends to make itself frit if possible, and the unanimity that is essential will be forthcoming.
