Sleepeis to be all hea't-wcod, free from large knots, shakes, and other defects; hewn trua in shape, and out of w'noicg; tn te sawn square at end*; to be cut from large trees (no honeycombed or burnt timber will be accepted); to be stacked as directed, and to be approved and pa sed by the Railway Inspector, Sleepeis will be inspected in the bush if s>o required by the supplier/, but no Inspector will be sent to pass a less numbtr than 2no. On receiving notice of sleepers being ready for inspection, the District Engineer will tend an Inspector to pass and brand them After the sleepers have been branded and inspected the supplier must deliver them at this railway station or siding at which he offered to supply; after such delivery has been made the Inspector will giye the supplier his certificate, aid for such as have passed inspection payment will be made witfc in fourteen days, or as near as may be, of the Inspector's certificate having been given. Fifty per cent, of the number undertaken to be scpp'ied, to be delivered by the end of October, and the whole by the 31st December, 1901. Condemned sleepers must ba distinctly bjanded by t e Inspector.
