PROTEST FROM THE COUNCIL.
At the' Bororjab Council meeting en Monday night Or. Be'lringer drew a'.ten'ion to the' fact of work being cirried on at the railway reokma'ion on Sundays. Ho "bought it a disgrace and that the Government was notd .ing it< duty to 'lie peop'". The matter had b.ien b' ought strongly under his notice, •ind he thought something should be lono by lha Council to pui a stop to this scandal.
O, Stohr said it was a work cf nece sity as it was to make tha tunnel for the river through the rubble wal], and this could only be done oa Sunday, when t.be e'giao was not running along t'ie wall. Cr. Crs. Oartar and Lqalmd supported ■lie motion, which was carried. The Mayor said be had no doubt hit the Government would recogaise the C uucil'd repr s'-n'ation, and he ei'ed tl e acion cf the Government in the nutter i f g.-l ICelds work which he thought i-howed i s sympathy with s'opciriji! Sunday wok. Tha motion was then carried.
