AUTUMN SHOW. The autumm show, under the auspices of the Tarannki Horticultural Society, was held in the Theatre Royal on Thursday, and the promoters must be congratulated up n n the success which attended their «fforts. The exhibi's were very sstisfac'ory in cumber and, generally speaking, < xeell c nt in quality. Among the floral exhibits chrysanthemums stood out very conspicuously ; i dead tl ey formed the main feature, I as the season is r.ithirfar advanced for
11' e mijori y of other flowers to be jsluwn at their bsst. The "'Mum" . exhibits were of an exceptionally high j order, and the piize for b s L . collection i was awarded to Mr. 0. G JodsoD, of |Ha*er», who hid an exceedingly goad show of bloims on view, Mr. GoodI acre and Mrs. Melsop alto showed some jfiqe specimens.
1 A very fir.e collection of pot pluits, including foliaged and flowering begonia', co'mus, cyclamens, abutlands, grass s, pa'ms, bouvardias, heaths, bouganvillas, daphnes, diasnac, choyciaiias, etc., were shown by Mr. J. Wa'ker, of Autklmd, and a number of blooms by Messrs Weigbtman and Son, of Awshuri. tion of fruit, shown for exhibition, was undoubtedly t>at of Mrs. G. H. Bloaklev, of TJr nui, who showed a •splevdid fisso tme tit of 32 varieties; while Mrs. J. H. Rogers, Mimi, also had a very choice exhibit of applei. Among the vegetables there were a number of very good exhibi's, though none calling for special mention, excepting perhaps, a mammoth specimen cf c ibba»« of the genus savoy, shown by Mr. G. V. Tate, of Waitara; and »om« up-to-date " potatoes, which were very succfssful in their classrs. A. guessing ompeti'ion—ti guesj the number of peas in a battle—oreated a good deal of interest dining the a'terroon, and was won by Miss McAllum, who euessed 780, the actual number being 776.
