The ves~el ashore at Cape Patterson j is the barque A> tisan bound from Manila to Newcastle in ballast. She struck during the gale at 3 a.m. on Monday. All hands retched the shore safely and are waiting till the flood subsides in the Powlett river in order to reach San Remo. With the heavy sea running the barque is doomed. The Artisan is owned by the Thomas Company, St. JohDs, New Brunswick. The George T. Hay is anchored behind Cape Woolamie, and unable to get out without assistance. There is a danger of her dragging her anchor?.
