The Taranaki Guards held a paradi* last night, under Capt. Tauntan, Lietrts,. Cool: and Holmes bfling also present.Including recruits 45 men turned out, and eomo useful work was put in under Sergt. Ma jot Peacock. Colour-Sergfc. Phillips uf the Wanganui Highland RiHes was also oa parade and fell in with the Guards
Ac the oloso of the parade OapUia Taunton announced that during the winter months drills would be hold every Tuesday evening. This is a wise step as there is do hct'er way for young fellows ta spend an evening than in drilling. It is always useful and makes smart well set up fellows of young lids who would otherwise grow up round shouldered ill formed men.
If Rifles, Guards and Ctdets could be got together occa'ionally, and compete in physical and b lyonet drill, it would add interest and a small sum in pri/.e money would be a good investment.
