Montgomerie, of the New Zealand Rough Riders, has sailed from Capetown to England. Lord Kitchener reports tlat a party of ths Ninth L*ncsrs has been ambushed. A lieutenant and three men were killed and five vtounded. The Capetown correspondent of the Times states that loyalists in the colony are intensely apprehensive lest the absence of Sir Alfred Milner should hinder his policy. Radicals at Horn'! interpret tVa leavb as evidence cf the intention L.i recall him. Ma'an, editor of Ons land, wrs sentenced to a year's imprisonment for libelling English trcops.
