A latter was read from the BorougVi Council acknowledging the receipt of tho Association's recommendations and stating that the same bad boon ordered to lie on the table.

The Secretary read out Mr. Govett's notice of rootioa t j alter the name of the Association from Ratepayers' to Municipal. The Chairman explained that the change was directed towards enlarging jthe scope of the Association by bungling in voters whe wore not ratepayers. He pointed out that no additional power would be giv*n to non-r.itopayei s, but it would tead towards educating a greater number in the requirements ef the Borough. * Mr. Qtmtt considered it would be wise to, enlarge the Association so as to bring in as many voters as pnseiblo. Supposing a few undesirable people did join there ought to be enough leaven to counteract such infiueßces. Mr. W. J. Shaw said that since the last meeting he had reconsidered tbv 'question and would now sappjrt the proposal.

Mr. Scott was uveiv:n to tha motion on the ground that iho.so who found tho money v direot should have the voice.

Mr. Coleman said that from what he could gather there was a general desire to enlarge the Association in the way proposed.

Mr Richmond pointed out that the Association was not an executive institution hut merely a means of influence, there-fore no harm could ba done by opening the door wider and enlarging the base of the Society.

The motiou was carried with one dis sentiant.

The Chairman brought up the question of the new Post Office, and wae proceeding to state bis views when Mr Skinner protested that as the matter verged so closely on politics he would object to it being discussed.

Mr Govett considered that the mitter was clearly a municipal one but ha depre«t3d dealing with it at thai present time. . Mr Richmond moved that the Edu-! cation Committee be requested to make irqui i.'S intn whxt H»* t«een done by the Bovough Counoihini th.i Government in the matter of a pans of!La site, and report what; s'eps they consider desirable to expedite the building and as to the best site. He considered it very necessary to have a mora centra] post office. Several sites were avail- ! able.

The Chairman seconded the motion. Hetho.ught the Association should try and find out what w.'s boiag done in a eomewhat triangular fashion. No one knew actually whit was the position of matters or what was blocking tho proposed new building;. But that it was urgently needed waspacent to all who had occasion to use the present collection of dog boxes Ho urgad that the mitter should be taken up and an oudeivour madj to force the question to an issue.

Mr. Govett was doubtful if a committee would get much nearar the facts as a mm who would get at the exict truth was a brighter gwii us than was present that evening. Mr. Seott advised latting the mattar slide. It was moving, and if time were given would turn ou.t all right in the Bnd.

Mr. Hug.hes suggested a deputation waittun on the Council.

Mr. Richmond ropliedand the motion was carried.
