Note—The " M " Manure gave the best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momahaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-9'J d.nwthat vhe best result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone dutt and two-third? basic slag (.Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the be?t result, at a minimum cost, was from a o-jture of one-third haves' Superphosphate and two-thirds of ths W.M E Co's "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as ihe W.M A. Co. a No. 3 Mixture, tbe proportions oeing a little different. The former com'ination points o the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of basic slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report of Mr. Gillandetß, the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, which will be found in the Seventh KoporS of the Department, of Agriculture, wotlrl amply repay any fartrisr who Sods a difficulty in wtatingjtho most suitable manures THB.COIWANY!
