NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT. £4 PER CENT DEBENTURE LOAN ISSUE OF £500,000. Under tha authority of " The Aid to Public Works *nd Land Settlement Act, 1900." MINIMUM PRTCE OF ISSUE, £IOO PER CENT.

THE Colonial Treasurer invites Tenders for £500,000 New Zealand Government 4 per cent Debentures, payable to Bearer, and of the face value of and £IOO respectively, as may bo desired. These Debentures are secured in the Public Reveßuei of the Colony, and are repayable on the Ist April, 11)04, at tbs Treaaury, Wellington, New Zealand, or (if the tenderer so requests in his tender) at the office of the Agent-General for New Zealand in London.

Dividends represented by coupons attached to the debentures, will be payable on the Ist April and the Ist October in each year duiing the currency of the Loan, at the Cashiers Office, Treasury, Wellington, or at any branch of tbe Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, or (if the debentures we issued repayable in London) at the office of the Agent-General for New Zealand in London.

At the option of the bolder »f any debenture issued repayable in New Zealand, and on application made in that behalf at the Treasury, Wellington, New Zealand, he nay at aay time during its currency have it endorsed payable, both as to principal and interest, at the office of the Agent-General for New Zealand, London, or at any specified branch of the Bank of New Zealand in Australia. Froyidfd that in the former case the endorsement shall not be lets than three months and in the latter case net less than one month, before the due date of tha next ensuing payment of interest. The first interest coupon will be payable on the Ist October, 1901, and will bis for a sum equal to six months' interest on the nominal amount of the Debenture.

The issue price will be at the rate of £IOO in money for every £IOO expressed in debentures (below Which bo tender will be accepted), payable as follows: Deposit of 5 per cent, en application. First instalment ef 45 par cent, on Tuesday, 7th May, 1901, Second instalment of GO per oent. on Tuesid&y, 4th Jane, 1901. Payments may be made in full at any time on or after the 7th Hay, 1901, and prior to the 4th Jane, 1901, at a discount at the rate of one peund ten shillings per centum per annum. . Sealed tenders, addressed to the Secretary te the Treasury, Government Buildings, Wellington, accompanied with the B per cent, deposit, will ba received up to Neon of TUESDAY, 23rd April, 1901, when they will be opened in the presence of the Colonial Treasurer and the Controller and AuditorGeaeral, and allotment will forthwith be made. If cheques are lodged with a tender they must be drawn upon a B&ak in Wellington, and be marked by such Bank as " geod " for fourteen days. Cheques issued by a Bank need not be so marked. Tenders may be for the whole or any part of the Loan, and must state what amount of money vrill be given for every -£IOO ef the Debentures tendered for. Tenders must be for even hundreds of pouads sterling, and at prices which are multiples of sixpence. Tenders at different prices must be on separate forms. The nominal amount of Debentures tendered for mnst be written on the outside of the Tender.

In case of default in the payment ef any Instalment at its proper date, the deposit and instalment (if any) previously paid will We liable to forfeiture. If no allotment U made the deposit will be retorted. The first andsecoud instalments may be paid at any branch ef the Bank of New Zealand either in the Colony of Australia, to the credit of the Pnblio Accent, or at tbe Treasury, Wellington, not later than the several dates previously mentioned. Scrip Certificates will he issued, to be subsequently exchanged for the Debenture Bends. Tenders must be on printed forms, which may be obtained at the Cashier's Office, Treasury, Wellington, or at the offices of the Bank of New Zealand at Sydney. The nominations must be in writing signed by the proposer and candidate, and sent to the Chairman of the School Committee on or before MONDAY, April 15th, 1901, not er than 8 p.m. Nominations may alto be made at the Meetings ef Householders to be held on MONDAY, April 22nd, 1901. The first meeting of each ef the newly elected Committees for the appointment of Chairman is hereby convened at the abovo named places immediately after the elections.
