The Trades Conference wag continued and Motions were carried in favour of giving the Trades and Labour Councils power to cleat a member of the Arbitration Court; ta amend thr> Factories Act, eo as to provide for 8 hours for five days ami foar on Saturday for fomales and boys, and a half holiday for adult male workers; for workers at a registered factory the owners to provide dining rooms; all owners in factories to be under the Acp. Itwas resolved to petition fovpassingan eight hours bill; that a master and apprentice bill be passed, deods to be registered with the Inspector of Factoids; that the Government should open up one or more State coal mines; that the duties on necessaries of life that camnot ba produced in the colony be abolished and land and income tax increased ; that the Govprnni-nt establish a tailoring, boot, saddlery and harness manufacturing workshops ; that ttho Government undertake the manufacture of ammunition, oruimuce, a:rns and munitions of wur; that secondhand d' altrn ba licensed; lvduetio.i in weight of eornsi ks; and th:>t the Minister of Railways give profenmcu of tinployment to Unionists.
